Bobcat Promotions first trip

SAN MARCOS-Bobcat Promotions will travel to New York in January for the first time to gain real world experience and knowledge in the mass communication field.
Chuck Kaufman, faculty advisor for Bobcat Promotions, a student run public relations organization, is coordinating the trip that will take members to several places including public relations agencies, the United Nations and the New York Mets.
“New York is the media capital of the world,” Kaufman said.
Kaufman said that only New York was considered for the trip and that while other cities with a strong media presence maybe closer to home, none can match the cities reputation as a leader in media.
“Bobcat Promotions offers students a slice of the real world,” Kaufman said. “Students will gain skills in teamwork, personal management and entrepreneurship.”
Each student will have to pay $600 to cover the cost of the trip. Kaufman plans on taking 18 to 19 students.
Kaufman said that he is planning on possibly coordinating a trip to New York every year.
“We have people who have never stepped outside of their hometown,” Kaufman said. For some the experience will change their lives.
