Boys Versus Girls

Photo By The Detroit Data Guru

Recent studies show that american boys are falling behind girls in literacy categories. The lack of desire for boys to read has become a rebuttal to the idea that girls are lower in their math and science ability compared to boys.

Where is the national concern about the literacy gender gap?

Jon Scieszka, author of the "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales" created a website to try and get boys more excited about reading.

Although some studies show that the literacy rates are going down in boys, some educators have said that the concern over boys is "exaggerated" because regardless of their reading level boys are still making more money on average than girls.

Is America ignoring literacy rates in young boys?
